The Creation Station # 3

One of the activities got us looking through microscopes to see leaves and onion skins 'up close'.  The onion skins looked blue under the microscope!  There are amazing patterns on leaves - if you get a chance, have a look for yourself!

The Creation Station # 2

Gabriel has a bottle of oil and water - can you see how they don't mix?  Even when the children tried REALLY hard to shake up the bottles, they couldn't get the oil and water to mix together!

...but it was fun trying, wasn't it!

The Creation Station #1

A group of children at school worked with Mrs Little to make a 'Creation Station' set of activities as part of our school Science Fair.  Room 10 was the first class to go around the activities and we were really impressed with the work Mrs Little's group had done.  Here is an activity that Grace had fun with:

                                                                                                    

This is how air moves across the wings of a plane and makes the plane 'lift' into the sky!

Amazing Science!

We TOTALLY enjoyed our Science theme last term.  Over the holidays, Mrs S put together all our 'bits and pieces' to make our Room 10 Science Fair project.  Please come in to the class and see it if you get the chance.  Here is a photo:

Well done, Room 10 scientists!  You were incredible thinkers and came up with some great questions to solve.  Special thanks to Ben and Joel T and their amazing mum for the idea which got us started.

Science Fair - Room 12

This was the project from Room 12 that we liked the most.  These are some of our thoughts about it:

• It was good that they made a bow and tested it (Hannah, Reuben H)
• I liked how they made one bow tougher than the other one (Kayla)

We also thought of some more things that make projects interesting:

• you need pictures because that's how you can see how they made things (Kayla)
• pictures make the boards colourful too (Jada-Arielle)

When we got back to Room 10, we made a list of the things that are important when you do a Science Fair project:

• You need a good idea
• You need a cool title
• You need lots of pictures and colour to make it interesting
• You need to make sure your face is not in the photos
• It helps if you can show what you made

Science Fair - Room 11

Isn't this a cool Science Fair project?  It was our favourite one when we looked in Room 11.  These are the things we liked about it:

• the title is colourful (Loisi)
• the Lego kit would be very handy because it splits Lego and that can be hard to do (Nate, Abbey, Ben G, Reuben H)
• the bucket on the top is cool (Leighton, Amon)

We thought it was a very interesting idea and that is SUPER important for the Science Fair! (Abbey)
