Being sunsmart

We have been learning so much lately about being sunsmart!  We had to choose 2 sunsmart ideas we have at school (like sunhats and collars on our uniforms) and list all the ideas about them in a Venn Diagram.  Tricky!  It was interesting to see what was the same for both sides...which we put in the middle of the diagram.

What do you think would be the same between a collar and sunblock?  They both protect  our skin and they are sunsmart things to have!

Our Sunsmart School

What do you see, hear or feel in a sunsmart school?  We thought about this question and made a Y-chart on the wall to share our ideas.

We would see - trees, verandahs and shade sails for shade, uniforms that protect our skin (collars and buttons) and hats for our heads.
We would hear - people saying things that helped us be sunsmart: "Please put on your hat" "Please play in the shade" "Please put some sunblock on" and "Please pit some sunglasses on".
We would feel - hats on our heads, sunblock on our skin and maybe sunglasses on our faces.

Sunsmart hats!

We have been learning about being 'sunsmart' - protecting ourselves from God's powerful sun.  We thought of lots of ideas for sun hats...and then made them!  Of course we had to decorate them as creatively as we could...

Edrei's hat has amazing shades of blue.  It really  makes you feel like you are looking at the sky on a beautiful summer's day!

Richard loves lions...so he added one to his hat!  Luckily it has its own meat and a bone to eat so we don' t have to be afraid...
