Using strategies in maths

A group in Room 10 has been thinking about...thinking!  How do we work out problems in maths?  How do we get to an answer?  Our thinking is our 'strategy'.  Here are some examples.  The problem was about how many planks of wood you would need to build a pig pen!  The answer was 70 but you can see that there are different ways to work it out when we looked at the different sides of the pig pen:
