2013 Mixed up stories!

We read a book that had mixed up stories in it.  We have made our own to enjoy at reading time.  Here is an example of one that was 'mixed up' by Tatiana:

You can tell we are going to have a lot of fun with these!

More about water in the Bible

This week we thought about the story of Naaman.  He was an important leader in the army but...he had leprosy!  He went to ask Elisha for help but he didn't like what Elisha said - to wash in the Jordan River 7 times (and that water didn't sound too clean!).  Have a look at what we learnt from this story:

God used the water to heal Naaman's leprosy but it also washed his pride away so he could know God better too!

Meet Spike the Kiwi

This is Spike the Kiwi!  He is our 'ambassador' to go on a virtual field trip next week.  Virtual means that we are 'going' on the trip by computer!  Our trip is to learn all about the freshwater ecology around Lake Taupo.  It is going to be a bit tricky but we are great scientists in Room 10 and we will "See, Think and Wonder" our way through the trip!

We had to choose between these two 'ambassadors' but we really liked Spike the best!

Reading Rocks!

Yesterday we had a super show at school called "Reading Rocks".  A man called Adrian told us all about books and how cool they are.  He said that books could teach us ANYTHING.  He was also a professional juggler...so there were some awesome tricks happening too.  He juggled 5 balls and rode a 'looney cycle' (unicycle) with Tom from Room 5 up on his shoulders.  AMAZING!!!

Adrian balanced a spinning ball on a LONG stick (in the picture on the left) and he told us that he learnt everything about juggling from a book (in the picture on the right).

Dancing Petra

Today I went to my jazz and ballet exam.  I felt excited at the beginning but tired when it finished.  Mum did my hair in a bun and I wore a black leotard and some black pants.  I had a blue ribbon in a bow in my hair and another blue bow on the top of my leotard.

This is my beautiful hair.  Thanks Mum!

Rainbows

Do you know how rainbows are made?  We know it has something to do with water...and sunshine?  Leave a comment to tell us what you think is happening!

This is a rainbow we saw out our window last week.  How do you think  this happens?

Amazing mums!

We had Joel and Ben's amazing mum come to Room 10 and do a science experiment with us yesterday.  She told us about density.  We put an egg in freshwater to see if it would float then we tried it in very salty water.  Do you remember what happened, Room 10?  Last of all she carefully poured some fresh water in on top of salty water and an egg.  What happened then?  Try and tell your family about our 'discovery'!

Mrs T is a great scientist!

Water in the Bible

Here are 2 of the Bible stories we found that made us think about water.  We thought about what the water 'did' in the story then we decided what we thought God used the water for.  Last of all we thought about what the water was like.  God uses water in many ways and we can learn from Him!

...the Bible tells me so!

We have been learning about water.  As scientists we are studying the way water changes (solid, liquid, gas), how we see it in creation (the water cycle) and testing lots of other interesting questions about water that arrive in Room 10 each day!
We know that God teaches us through the Bible...so what does the Bible say about water?  Does God teach us things by using water in these stories?
We started by thinking of all the Bible stories we knew that had water in them:
...and this is only what we thought of on the first day!  Can you help us by adding a comment that tells us other Bible stories that have water in them?  Or can you help us think of the message God might be telling us when He uses water in the Bible?  Add comments please!
