Hockey Superstars!

Our College teacher, Mrs Young, has been teaching us some hockey skills.  It has been fun!  Here is a video of us having a go at 'dribbling' the hockey ball up and back on the court - a bit like our running relays.  Do you think we are good?

Skipping fun!

We have been practising some skipping skills.  Ben G and Leighton told us they were really good at this trick.  They are doing a 'basic jump' but they have swapped their handles on the inside so that they are turning the rope for each other!  How do you think they are doing?

Malo e lelei!

We have had a wonderful Tongan Language Week.  Special thanks to Loisi, Talaiasi and Vernon for sharing their language with us each day.  There are a lot of words the same as Maori we found out and we all loved listening to the beautiful sounds of Tongan being spoken.  Vernon praying in Tongan almost made Mrs S cry...it was awesome!
On Friday afternoon , all the Tongan children at school had a special activity with Mrs Jorgensen.  Here is the amazing art they did - this picture is by Loisi.

The Reuby Doo Show!

What do you do with an amazing child who spells all the words you could possibly want him to?  You give him his own 'spelling show' of course!  We hope you enjoy "The Reuby Doo Show" and that you learn some words that make you go "WOW!"

P.S.  This video may not show automatically in Internet Explorer, but you can see it in Google Chrome (free download).  Sorry about that...we are just learning!

We can...

We have been thinking about what it means to be 'holy'.  We read a story called "Jesus and the 12 Dudes That Did" then we thought about what we can do today - just like the disciples did when they were with Jesus.  We wrote our ideas down.  Here there are!

How do you think we can be 'holy' everyday?

Guess who read our blog...

It was very exciting today to read a comment from author Debbie Diesen.  She wrote the book 'The Pout-Pout Fish' which we enjoyed reading in Room 10.  We had been learning about alliteration and found some really fabulous examples in her story.  It is very encouraging to hear from a REAL author as we learn about writing ourselves. Check out her comment under the post about 'Alliteration'.
Thanks, Debbie!

Olympic Sports Festival

NB: There is one slide at the end - advertising!  The content is appropriate at the time of publishing but care is always needed when working on the internet :-)

Olympic sports festival from ccsaroha

Aroha team and Room 6 had a fabulous day at the Arena the other week.  It was a great chance to celebrate the Olympics and also to learn about different sports and games.  There were LOTS of children there (and some very tired but happy teachers by the end of the day!)
What was your favourite activity?
